How AIRecruit assignments work

What makes AIRecruit assignments resistant to generic AI answers, how submissions are scored, and what candidates are asked to do. Requires the Assignments & Evaluation add-on.

Written by Sofía

Assignments let candidates demonstrate real skills instead of relying on a resume that an AI tool helped polish. They are part of the Assignments & Evaluation add-on ($499/month per position) — they are not included in the $399/month base plan.

Why assignments exist

Resumes have stopped being a useful filter. Most applications are now AI-assisted, which means they are all well written and all look qualified. An assignment moves the test from "can this person describe the work" to "can this person do the work."

What makes them resistant to AI answers

A generic take-home can be finished by a chatbot in a single prompt. AIRecruit assignments are built to make that ineffective in three ways:

Generated per candidate, not per role. Each assignment is created for one specific applicant rather than issued identically to everyone.

Bound to the candidate's own resume. The task references the experience that particular candidate claimed, so a generic answer does not fit the brief.

Process artifacts required. Candidates must submit drafts, reasoning, and intermediate steps — not just a finished output. A chatbot can produce a polished final answer; it cannot produce a work trail that matches the specific background someone claimed.

Each assignment also includes unique constraints generated at the moment it is sent, so briefs cannot be shared or reused between candidates.

The design of these assignments draws on outcomes from more than 150,000 real interviews.

How submissions are scored

Every submission is scored against a rubric before it reaches you. Scoring includes:

  • A score per criterion, with evidence quoted from the submission

  • Integrity signals

  • A ranked shortlist, with the strongest submission first

Because every candidate is measured against the same rubric, results are comparable rather than dependent on who reviewed them.

When assignments are sent

Assignments are delivered automatically at the pipeline stage you choose, so they go out without you having to send anything manually. Whether an assignment is required at all is configurable per position.

What candidates experience

If you enable assignments, this is what applicants are told:

  • Assignments are capped at 60–180 minutes of work — never a multi-day project

  • Deliverables are scoped and stated up front, so candidates know what to hand in before starting

  • Work is scored against a rubric, using the same criteria for every candidate

  • Assignments are free for candidates, as is applying and being screened

Turning assignments on or off

Assignments & Evaluation is a per-position add-on that can be switched on or off at any time. Charges are prorated: enabling it mid-cycle charges only the remaining days, and disabling it credits the unused time to your next invoice. See AIRecruit pricing, add-ons, and billing.
